Where to get school meals
Information is from the Nevada Department of Agriculture (NDA) and from individual districts. The NDA is putting out updated information from school districts as sites are confirmed.
Sites and times are subject to change and will be updated as that information is made available.
Carson City School District
School meals sites ceased operations June 3, 2020.
Meals will continue to be served at the Boys and Girls Club of Western Nevada, 1870 Russell Way, Carson City, NV 89706.
Churchill School District
Summer meal services are available from June 1 through August 7.
Meals will be served Monday through Friday at the following locations:

Clark County School District
Clark County has released a list of 35 locations where meals will continue to be provided. Food is available between 7 a.m. and 10 a.m. Monday through Friday, and a school-age child must be present for the food to be distributed.
Meal service will be provided at least through June 30 and may continue longer depending on need.
Families can find out which site they are closest to on the CCSD Nutrislice website.

Meal distribution and delivery
Non-profits are operating food banks and delivery services through the following methods. Specific times at each location may change day-to-day.
Northern Nevada
Food Bank of Northern Nevada is continuing to operate in Washoe County and surrounding counties.
Households can determine what distribution site is closest to them at either of the above links or by calling (775) 331-3663.
Food Bank of Northern Nevada are also operating the Kid’s Cafe program on either Mondays and Thursdays, or Tuesdays and Fridays for children 1-18 years old. Children will be provided with 3 days’ worth of meals at a time.
Kid’s Cafe is operating at 20 sites in the Reno/Sparks Area.
Healthy Communities Coalition of Lyon and Storey Counties is operating three food pantries in Lyon County. Following is the newest update to location and hours:
- Dayton Food Pantry: 209 Dayton Valley Rd, Dayton, NV 89403, Tuesday through Thursday, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
- Silver Stage Food Pantry in Silver Springs: 1775 US Highway 50 East, Silver Springs, NV, 89429, Wednesday and Thursday, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Delivering with Dignity is now available in Reno/Sparks for those in low-income households who are at a higher risk of contracting the virus, including seniors and those with underlying medical conditions and their family members living in the same household.

Southern Nevada
In addition to school meal sites, Three Square Food Bank has set up 43 emergency food distribution sites across Southern Nevada. Three Square has temporarily suspended normal food distribution to any agency partners that are not on the emergency distribution list.
The non-profit also has services available for seniors. Between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, anyone in Southern Nevada over the age of 60 can speak to an advocate at (702) 765-4030 to help determine what services are available to help them access food.
Delivering with Dignity is also available in Clark County for those in low-income households who are at a higher risk of contracting the virus, including seniors and those with underlying medical conditions and their family members living in the same household.

Senior services
Nevada COVID-19 Aging Network (Nevada CAN) is a website available through Nevada 2-1-1 which allows elders and caregivers to request help in specific areas of need.
The network focuses on three areas of need:
- Essentials for daily living (food, prescription medications, etc)
- Telehealth services
- Social support services
In addition to the website, seniors can access services by calling 2-1-1 or 1 (866) 535-5654 or texting their zip code to 898211.
Senior shopping
Smith’s food and drug stores are offering special shopping hours for seniors. On Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m., stores will be open only to seniors, allowing them to avoid busier shopping times.
Additionally, Smith’s is waiving the pick-up fee for
curbside pickup online orders for customers who are over 60 years of age. The
fee waiver will last through April 18, 2020.
Smith’s will continue its temporary store hours of 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. for all other customers until further notice and are evaluating the option of extending pharmacy hours for seniors.
These stores are also offering accommodations to seniors:

Virtual urgent care visits
Dignity Health- St. Rose Dominican is launching Virtual Care Anywhere, a virtual urgent care service available for anyone in Nevada experiencing COVID-19 symptoms.
Services can be used on the website, through the Virtual Care Anywhere app, or by calling (855) 356-8053 and using the coupon code COVID19. The $35 per-visit service fee is being waived for any patient who thinks they may be experiencing COVID-19 symptoms.
The typical wait time for patients after requesting an appointment is 15-30 minutes, but a high demand may result in a longer wait.
Anyone experiencing severe symptoms, such as high fever or difficulty breathing, should contact 911 or visit the nearest care site.
Special enrollment period open for insurance through state health insurance exchange
Nevadans will be able to enroll in health insurance plans through the Silver State Health Insurance Exchange between March 17 and April 15 as part of a limited exceptional circumstance special enrollment period.
Those seeking to enroll are encouraged to contact the exchange’s customer service center between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at (800) 547-2927. The call center is also extending its hours on Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. from March 21 through April 15, except Easter Sunday.
The exchange is also reminding people that there are other qualifying life events that allow someone to enroll in insurance through the state’s exchange — including marriage, birth of a child, moving, loss of health insurance or Medicaid denial — outside of the special enrollment period.
Addiction and recovery resources
As a result of social distancing requirements, many in-person recovery meetings are being cancelled or postponed. There are multiple online alternatives available for those in the recovery community.
The Foundation for Recovery in Nevada has resources available for those in both Northern and Southern Nevada. Their recovery community centers can be reached at:

Their recovery support warm line is also staffed 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and can be reached at 1-800-509-7762.
Alcoholics Anonymous has a compiled document with digital resources including a link to a directory of online meetings.
Virtual NA also provides a directory of narcotics anonymous meetings accessible online or by phone.
In the Rooms, a social online recovery community, provides resources including blogs, direct messaging, and online live meetings.
Free dental care for children whose parents have been laid off
Dr. Steven DeLisle, a pediatric dentist in Las Vegas, said that Children’s Dentistry of Las Vegas is now offering free dental care for Southern Nevada children whose parents have been laid off because of the coronavirus pandemic. Children’s Dentistry has nine offices spread throughout the Las Vegas Valley and Pahrump.
DeLisle said that parents wishing to schedule services should call (702) 99-TOOTH (998-6684) to be routed to the closest office to their home.

City of Reno rental assistance program
The City of Reno will be providing financial assistance to applicants financially affected by COVID-19 and the business shut down as long as applicants can prove they have income to sustain the household once the assistance period ends.
Applicants must meet the income guideline of 80 percent Area Media Income or below and meet one of the following criteria:
- Homeless- staying in a place not meant for human habitation
- Homeless- staying in an emergency shelter
- Fleeing domestic/partner violence
- Leaving a transitional housing program
- Facing eviction within 30 days
- Doubled up and must leave current housing
- Sudden significant loss of income
- Unpaid bills that will lead to eviction

Electric utility information
NV Energy
NV Energy has temporarily suspended disconnections for non-payment and will be working with customers who have been economically impacted by COVID-19 by waiving deposits and fees for late payments and providing payment plans.
In Southern Nevada, the company has expanded project REACH, which was previously established to assist senior citizens, to cover any adult who meets certain income requirements, or has been financially impacted by COVID-19.
In Northern Nevada, the company is offering energy bill assistance through its Special Assistance Fund for Energy program.

City of Boulder City
The City of Boulder City will be suspending
utility disconnections on a case-by-case basis. Residents can contact (702)

Overton Power District
Overton Power District 5 is suspending all service disconnections and penalties for late and missed payments for those directly affected by COVID-19, including customers:
- Under self-quarantine orders
- Who have contracted COVID-19
- Have been furloughed from work

Natural gas utility information
Amerigas
Amerigas will not be shutting off any Nevada customers’ propane supplies for non-payment.
Southwest Gas
Southwest Gas is suspending all service disconnections indefinitely. The company is also offering flexible payment options which can be managed online or by contacting customer assistance at (877) 860-6020.
Wendover Gas
Wendover Gas is continuing to fill residential and commercial tanks, but the company is not scheduling stove installation, conversions, or repairs for customers.
Emergency gas leaks and concerns will still be handled.
Additionally, the company is asking customers to pay by phone at (775) 664-2291 or online rather than coming into the office.
Telecommunications utility information
AT&T
AT&T will not terminate the service of any wireless, home phone or broadband customer for non-payment due to COVID-19 disruptions. Additionally, the company is waiving late payment fees and domestic wireless plan overage charges for data, voice or text for residential or small business customers.
Customers affected by COVID-19 can reach the company at (800) 288-2020 for assistance.
AT&T will also be keeping public Wi-Fi hotspots open, providing unlimited internet data to all consumer home internet wireline customers, as well as Fixed Wireless Internet.
Webex Meetings with AT&T are free for 90 days for new Webex customers to help businesses with remote working.
CenturyLink
CenturyLink is temporarily waiving late fees and not terminating residential or small business customer’s services due to financial circumstances related to COVID-19. They are also suspending data usage limits.
Charter Communications
Charter is offering 60 days of free Spectrum broadband and Wi-Fi access and waiving installation fees for all households with K-12 or college students who do not already have Spectrum subscriptions. Those wishing to enroll can call (800) 488-8395.
Low-income households without school-aged children can also access Spectrum Internet Assist, a low-cost broadband program.
Additionally, Charter is opening its Wi-Fi hotspots for public
use.
Cox Communications
Cox is temporarily pledging not to terminate services for any residential or small business customer due to non-payment as a result of COVID-19 disruptions. It will also waive late fees and open Cox Wi-Fi hotspots for public use.
Cox’s low-income broadband program, Connect2Compete,
which is available to qualified low-income households with K-12 students, is
now offering its first two months free.
Filer Mutual
Filer Mutual has closed its in-person office and is asking customers to pay online, over the phone a (775) 755-2301, at a dropbox, or through the mail.
Frontier Communications
Frontier is temporarily pledging not to terminate services for any residential or small business customer due to non-payment as a result of COVID-19 disruptions. It will also waive late fees and open Frontier Wi-Fi hotspots for public use.
